What do you want to see? How much time do do you have? What is your skill level with mountain adventures? These are a few of the questions that we will ask to develope a personalized tour for you and your invited guests.
* Tours can be oriented for photography, hiking, sight seeing, nature studies, local history or a combination of interests.
* Tours are designed for adults and older children 12 and up.
* Tours are oriented to small groups of two to six people.
* All tours are private, only the people you invite will come along.
* Half day (4 hours) or full day (8+ hours) are available as standard, but custom tours can be scheduled.
How far you hike (or drive) and the pace of the tour is your decision. Various hiking tours are available as loops, “out back” or “point-to-point”. Our hiking trips range from easy walks suitable for anyone to hikes that will challenge all but the seasoned backpackers. Driving Tours are available where you only walk a few feet from your car to see spectacular falls and vistas. Mixed tours are also available with a combination of short hikes and short drives. Similar to the hiking trips, we have short driving tours that are “out back” and longer loop tours that include multiple stops at a various range of destinations.
On our Photo Safaris, learn how to use your camera to its fullest potential and get you off of automatic mode. We are very experienced in teaching you the basics in a simple understandable manner so you start seeing huge improvements within the first hour of the tour. We primarily use Canon Camera Equipment for still photography and video with a wide assortment of lenses, specialty mounts, external controllers and support equipment. In addition, we have recently expanded into Video / Cinematography, GoPro (action) and Drone (aerial) photography.
Your experienced tour guide and naturalist is a life long resident of the area and well versed in North Georgia's wildlife, birds, flowers, geology, local history, and much much more. Your guide is certified in Wilderness Navigation by the Colorado Outward Bound School and practices "Stay Found" principles while on the trail. He has extensive hiking experience on the Appalachian Trail (Georgia to New York State) and has hiked significant portions of the Continetal Divide Trail in Colorado. In the years prior to the Covid, your guide worked as a historical underground tour guide at the Consolidated Gold Mine in Dahlonega. He has also attended classes in the gem stone arts at the "William Holland School of Lapidary Arts".
Tours are designed for adults and older children 12 and up. Outback Guide Service tours are very detail oriented with information at a high school and college level. Often children under 16 get bored due to the level of information and the pace of the adventures. If they are not extremely into nature and science they may not appreciate the information being offered.
